Science of success

The science of success is not complicated. It is actually quite simple. We need to take care of two things only: intention and attention.

We start by having a clear intention followed by consistently pointing our body and mind in that direction. If we do this, we reach our highest potential.

We start by having an intention which is clear, believable and heartfelt.

When I was 14 years old, I had to appear for a national-level test. My parents incentivised me by saying that if I scored 80% marks they will buy me a certain sports kit which I really, really wanted (craved would be a better word).

I was not used to scoring that kind of a mark and my parents were trying to somehow motivate a scattered teenager. I was not that much concerned about the test, but I really wanted that sports kit. So, I made scoring 80% marks my aim. My parent’s trick was working.

I had no specific plans to achieve it. My strategy was let’s study a little harder than I am used to and that should do it.

I did not think about my goal daily (or weekly). Once in a while I would day-dream about it -Like how nice it would be to get 80% marks (and hence, the sports kit).

Ten months later, I appeared for the exam and got 400 marks out of 500. Exactly, 80.0000%.

I had no logical strategy to achieve my goal. But I had a very strong, heartfelt intention.

Having a clear, believable and hearty intention is half the story. Rest is attention.

Focusing attention towards the intention adds our life energy to it. The more persistent our attention, more fire we are adding to the universal manifestation machine.

I am not talking about putting our attention on the end goal here. We do not put our attention on the end goal by visualising or repeating it like a mantra. That will occur naturally.

Focusing our attention is all about taking actions. Actions that we associate with our goal. In my case, it was reading books, taking notes in class, waking up early, talking to boring people in the school, among other things.

I believe having a clear intention then fuelled by persistent attention prepares our body and mind needed for it. Also, it also brings the external (universe) in alignment as we are all interconnected.

We all want to be successful. It can be in our careers, personal relationships or a spiritual practice. It doesn’t matter. If the pursuit is heartfelt, it is a delight to witness the process.
